How to Measure Your Ring Size

We’ve put together some quick tips and a handy guide to help you find your perfect ring size. It’s easy, fuss-free and helps make sure your ring feels just right for years to come.

Here’s what to keep in mind before we dive in:

  • A well-fitting ring should slide on smoothly but not slip off too easily. That balance is key for both comfort and peace of mind.

  • If you already know your ring size, but need to convert it, just check out our ring size conversion chart.

  • Not sure of your size yet? Our printable ring size guide saves the day. Download it, grab a ring that fits comfortably on the finger you’ll wear your ring on and match it to the chart. Simple as that.

With just a few minutes and a couple of basic items, you can figure out your ring size without leaving the house.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Cut a strip of paper. Make sure it’s thin enough to wrap around your finger comfortably.

  2. Wrap it around the finger you want to wear the ring on. It should feel snug but not tight, just like how a ring should fit.

  3. Mark the spot where the ends meet.

  4. Lay it flat and measure the distance with a ruler from the edge to the mark. That’s the circumference of your finger.

  5. Check our ring size conversion chart to match your measurement to the corresponding size, and that’s it!

Our Ring Sizing Tips

  • Finger size changes with temperature and time of day. Fingers shrink when it’s cold and swell when it’s warm, so avoid measuring when your hands are cold. For the most accurate size, measure at the end of the day in warm conditions, when your fingers are at their largest.

  • Measure more than once before buying, just to be sure.

  • Remember, your left and right hands aren’t the same size, so always measure the finger you’ll actually wear the ring on.

  • If your knuckles are larger, take two measurements: one at the knuckle and one where the ring will sit. Then choose a size in between. The ring should slide over the knuckle without feeling too loose once it’s on.

  • Wider bands fit tighter, so go up about half a size for a wide ring.

  • If you're between sizes, it's best to go with the larger one for comfort and an easy fit.

Ring Size FAQs

  • What if I order the wrong size?

Ring sizing can feel tricky, but there’s no need to stress. At Vianisa, we offer free resizing for all our wedding and engagement rings within the first year. If it’s not quite right, you’re covered with a 30-day return window with a full refund.

  • What happens when a ring is resized?

When a ring is resized, a tiny bit of metal might be added or removed. Your ring might end up just a touch thinner or thicker but you won’t see or feel the difference. After resizing, the ring is cleaned and polished, so it comes back looking as stunning as ever.

  • Can every ring be resized?

Most of them, yes! The only exception is eternity rings, which can’t be resized because of their full band of stones. If you’re not sure whether your ring can be resized, just reach out to us, we’re happy to help.

  • What should I do if I’m between two sizes?

We offer half and quarter sizes, so chances are you’ll get a great fit either way. However, if you can’t decide between two, go with the larger size because it’s usually the safer bet. Keep in mind that wider bands tend to feel a bit tighter, so sizing up slightly is often a good choice.

  • What’s a comfort fit?

All Vianisa rings are made with comfort fit, which means the inside of the ring is slightly curved. This little detail makes the ring slide over the knuckle more easily and sit more naturally on your finger. It provides extra comfort and peace of mind.
